Thunder Secure Second Conference Point with Tie Against Med City

The Sioux Falls Thunder (0-5-2) held their own against Med City (3-2-2) on Wednesday, June 14th in a warm summer evening. The teams split the scoring across the halves to finish 1-1 in a narrow fight to the end.

The Thunder got onto the scoreboard first. Just 19 minutes into the game, defender Jack Crombie snagged a loose ball and dribbled through the defense for 30 yards before letting a cannon shot fly into the upper left corner.

Both teams would trade chances back and forth well into the second half. Thunder keeper Jack Howard made several key saves to keep the Thunder up a goal, and midfielder Trace Dobson had a glorious chance with a headed shot that knocked off the crossbar. Unfortunately, Med City would equalize with just 13 minutes left in regulation time. After a collision in the box left Howard limping for a spell, Med City restarted with a throw-in inside the Thunder third. An aggressive push got around the Thunder defense still concerned for their keeper's well-being. The last few minutes ticked away for the game to remain 1-all.

The Thunder have a short break before returning to Bob Young Field next Wednesday, June 21st to face off against Duluth FC.
