The Sioux Falls Thunder saw their third loss of the season to Minneapolis City on Wednesday, despite a close match throughout.
The Crows opened strong, putting pressure on the Thunder immediately. Several missed shots, including one tipped by Thunder keeper Latham Kleckner onto the crossbar, fell within minutes of each other. And just nine minutes in, Aiden Cavanaugh for City placed a shot directly into the bottom corner to put the Thunder down one.
An equalizer wouldn't come until the 64th minute for the Thunder. Consistent passing for Sioux Falls gave Ethan Glissendorf a header in front of the goal. Minneapolis would score twice in a three-minute span later in the half, the first a through ball and the second a quick counterattack. The game wasn't over. A long ball to Thunder forward Samuel Baraka was beautifully controlled, followed by an even prettier lofted shot into the upper 90. But with only 6 minutes left on the clock, time for a second equalizer ran out, and the game finished 2-3 for Minneapolis.
The Thunder will continue their streak of away games, heading back to the Twin Cities on Saturday, June 25th to play the Minnesota Twin Stars.
